Any problems with your rear drums kind of getting stuck? Its the passenger rear drum that kind of hangs up sometimes. I'm thinking air in the lines maybe? I was also thinking of changing out the bleeder screws all the way around, i think that maybe the problem.

what do you think?

Do u notice it when the truck is parked for an extended time during a hard rain?? It could also be that they are adjusted to tight and when u apply the brake during a hard stop they lock up prematurely.

is truck lowered, cable getting in a bind underneath?

The truck has stock suspension all the way around

Do u notice it when the truck is parked for an extended time during a hard rain?? It could also be that they are adjusted to tight and when u apply the brake during a hard stop they lock up prematurely.

Its always pretty humid here but i has been raining quite a bit. I notice it most in the mornings when it has been sitting all night. How would I adjust them?

Yeah I used to have another GM that would do the same thing. After a minute or so it would stop. I asked somebody about it back then and he told me that condensation was building up in the drum and that was causing the lock up. I couldn't see how but I couldn't come up with anything else especially since the brakes were brand new.

Ok to adjust the rear brakes you have to make sure the wheels are off the ground and the truck is in neutral. There is a hole/slit on the backing plate which allows you to insert the tool or screw driver to adjust the brakes. You want to adjust it to the point where the wheel has a slight drag to it. It shouldn't be hard to turn and it shouldn't spin freely. hope that helps

especially since the brakes were brand new.

Yea, I changed out the brakes a few months ago. I bled the brakes when I did it and bled them maybe a month ago. I just thought i wasnt getting all of the air out. I'll try to adjust them.

Any chance the self adjuster, got put in backwards, on the passenger side?

That would cause it to tighten while braking forward rather than in reverse.

Is the rear drum adjuster manual or automatic? If it's manual, which direction is to tighten it. Thanks

The rear drums should be able to be set up by sliding a brake tool through the slot on the back plate to in gage the star wheel. Moving the brake tool “up”, will move the star wheel down, which spreads the brake shoes further apart.

If the star wheel is jammed, you might have a drum with a inspection plug, near the outer diameter, in front. It is used to pull back the pawl, in cases of brakes being too tight to remove the drum.

I'm pretty sure all drum brakes are auto adjust these days.
