TYF Newbie
Hey all, new to this forum. I joined because I have an issue that, upon using my google-fu (which is not terribly strong), I haven't been able to solve.
For starters, I have an 01 Yukon SLT 2wd with the 5.3 L engine.
My problem is this: A couple of years ago, I went out to my truck, and I could crank it, it would start, but wouldn't stay running. A mechanic friend, whom I trust told me to replace my IAC valve. I did so, and the problem was fixed. Fast forward to now, within the last couple of days. The truck started doing the same thing one day after I went into Crossfit and worked out. Got a new IAC valve, and the truck fired right up, and I drove home. A few hours later, I went to the store to pick up some groceries ( about 5 miles away from my house), stopped for gas, and after pumping, I went to start the truck, but, alas, it wouldn't start. I towed it home. Since I had to work the next day, I couldn't pick up a new IAC Valve (this was on a Sunday). Tuesday morning, I picked up a new IAC valve when I got off work, replaced it, and the truck fired right up. Took my son to school this morning, truck ran fine, restarted fine, except a low idle. (My truck normally idles around 500 rpm, but was idling around 400, and would dip down to around 200 when driving.) Later I went over to a buddies house about 6 miles from my place, and when I went to leave, it wouldn't crank again. I turned the ignition on 3 times without cranking, and it fired back up.
I've checked my wiring, nothing seems to be grounding out, and I am unsure of what to look at next.
Keep in mind that I am a single dad, with a small income, and this is my only vehicle. I can't afford to be out of a vehicle, and can't spend much to fix it.
Thanks for any help in advance guys and gals.
