I put on a set of Hawk LTS pads on my 2009 Tahoe and they worked fine but now they are causing the tabs on the abutment clips to hit the rotor. The pads did not come with replacement clips but I did not see anything stating they could not be used with the stock clips. It seems this clip/pad combination is not compatible. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Update: I eventually found the problem. Hawks lists the wrong part for a 2009 Tahoe, it might be 2009+ but I have not looked into it. 2009 does not have the same brakes as 07 and 08 and apparently Hawks didn't get the memo.

Hawk's customer service is terrible, actually non existent. 3 emails and no replies.

SW CT,
This is an issue with all GM trucks/suvs. The problem is the contact between dis-similiar metals between the clip the caliper and the pads. Best thing is to disassemble and get out a grinder to clearance the new pads backing material. Make sure that the new pads simply drop in and you can slide the caliper back and forth with one finger on the slide-bolts, once that is done lube all contact points between the 3 metals with brake specific grease.
If you go over to dieselplace.com and search for it there is a very good write-up by a brake tech.

Thanks for the feedback, however it sounds like you are describing a different situation. The hardware on the Tahoe (I did buy this used) looks like the one in the picture. The clips (red arrow pointing to one) look like they are designed to provide tension against the pads to keep them from rubbing the rotor constantly. The problem is the clips get pushed against the rotor by the pad. It doesn't seem like these pads are meant for this clip type, I don't have the stock pads anymore so I can't reference.

I did watch a youtube video for an installation and when they pulled the hardware off it appeared the tabs causing my problems were bent the opposite direction, away from the rotor. It looks like there are 2 types of hardware. Can anyone confirm what they have seen?
