A good thing about the Jet-Hot coating is besides reducing the underhood heat they're also guaranteed for life when the parts are new.

I use DEI High temp ceramic header paint from autozone and the DEI header wrap, coated with the DEI high temp silicone spray.
works fantastic!

When you coat your headers HANG THEM UP by a metal coat hanger, dont use any kind of string it WILL break.

Heres how I do them. Have done quite a few sets and Y pipes with this procedure.

Besure to scuff them with some 800grit wet dry sand paper.. then wipe them down with 91% alcohol.

heat them up with a hot air gun from the inside out.
You want them just warm enough that you can feel the heat in the pipes.
Coat the living shizzle out of them, thicker the better, but do it in layers.
I usually use a can per header.
Once you coat them to satisfaction, heat them as hot as you can with the hot air gun from the inside again. then let them puppies heat for as long as you can. you want to heat them evenly, once hot on the inside, heat them on the outside. just don't boil the paint....

if you want, give the coating a few days to fully cure before you start wrapping them. I generally wait a day with them HANGING in the sun. DONOT lay them on cardboard. they will stick and glue themselves to the cardboard and rip the coating off when you pull the cardboard off..
When you start wrapping, fold the end into a triangle. fold 45* one way then 45 again the other way to make a point, it looks alot cleaner and the hose clamp can grab hold of it alot better.
be precise with your with your wrap, if you don't it will become loose and fall down the pipe. this really takes two ppl to do correctly. One guy wrapping other un-tangling the header wrap, un roll the entire roll and lay out out flat across the floor.
Have a hose clamp loose on the pipe that your wrapping, so when your hands cramp (because your wrapping it as tightly as you possibly can) and you want a break, your buddy can slide it down to your stop point and tighten it up.
This keeps you from having to re-tighten the wrap each time you stop for a break.
Dont try and use the pos stainless zipties that come with the kits, Use stainless hose clamps! they work far better. They stay Tight and will keep the header wrap nice and tight forever.

some ppl soak the header wrap before wrapping with water. it allows thw wrap to comform to the pipe better.
I dont as it makes a far bigger mess than the dry wrap does.. You will find out :evillol:

O yea! get ready for the smoke show! wow! they will smoke like the truck is burning down for prolly 2 hours so be ready for that! and smell for days!
But when its all done you will love it! you will actually be able to Touch the header pipe even after doing a hard freeway run! and not get burnt! dont reccomend it, but you can.
