I received my Pacesetter Headers & y-pipe last week. I am going to install tomorrow. It came with gaskets but, after doing a little research I went out and picked up some new OEM gaskets and Stage 8 header bolts. Also going to swap out the sparkplugs while I'm there.
Anyways I currently have the Tahoe programmed with a Hypertech programmer. Should I return to stock before doing the install? Yes I plan to get a real tune but waiting till I get my electric fans first. I Know I should expect the check engine light due to the rear 02's being dismissed. I'm not sure if I will be able to use the programmer at all after the install. Does anyone know if the programmer will be completely obsolete? or can I still use in the meantime?

I'd love to hear what gains you receive

me too. unfotunetly I ran into a snag. Looks like i stipped a bolt while trying to remove stock y-pipe from stock manifold on drivers side 3 bolt flange. The bolt didn't want to give. I tried using craftsman stripped bolt remover but made it worse. :Boo:
I'm thinking about removing the manifolds on both sides. If they come off without issue. Then I'll just go ahead and cut the stock y-pipe near flange to get drivers stock manifolds out. Not quite sure yet if this the best idea. Either way It is going to have to wait till Sun. before I can get back on it.

mmeachem I have no update. I ran into a couple of issues one: a stipped nut on y-pipe which I cut out.
two: Seems there was a broken manifold bolt in head. Still working on getting that out. May have to pull head from block and take to machine shop when time permits. :emotions122:

Ya I had this putting long tubes on my LT1 Trans Am. Had to remove the head to have it removed. Not that big of a deal, prooobably easier on the LS. LT1 was a pita to work on, and the gains were still short of a stock LS1..... :)

I would love to put Long tubes on the Yukon.
