if your truck is a daily driver i would stick to F.I with a blower cam. you have to remember something the bigger the cam you put in your truck the higher stall converter you will need. stock converter with a tr224 is not ideal. the stock converter flashes at around 1800-2000? that cam will not be in its band at that low rpm you will need a higher stall. and dont get me wrong im not saying the tr224 is a big cam its really not that big at all but for the op's situation it doesn't seem ideal to me. also higher stall = killer gas mileage. lets not forget about the transmission... we all know how well the 65e's hold up to power lol.

IMO build your motor for your future F.I plans buy a blower cam with some good springs and injectors / fuel pump

Im no engine builder, but Heads / Cam / Intake would make a huge difference. When you do go FI, youll really like the top end rebuild. dont go overboard on a big cam unless you budget in a high stall converter.

I would watch out for the tranny being a weak point. 4l60 E isnt it, not 65?

i know the silverado SS have both 60 and 65e depending on the year. there almost identical so its not a big difference. and im running 10 psi on a 100% stock motor on my SS. radix 112 with a 2.8 pulley. valve covers have never even been pulled. you want to build the top end if your running above average boost numbers. for example a F1 procharger, magnacharger tvs 2300, or a pullied down d1. i mean it will never hurt to upgrade the valve train but its not a necessity unless your really pushing it. or obviously if you do a cam swap why not change out the springs while your in there

yes the trannies are a very weak point once you start making power. my 65e lasted 8 months behind my radix WITH a shift kit and servos. i couldnt agree more about the stall. installing a cam without the proper stall is basically pointless
