OK so i bought me a Yukon ,, 2006 , shes a great truck but i have noticed my heated seats up front don't work ,, i push the button and the three lights flicker but stay out ,, tonight on my way home i noticed they were flickering all on there own and i could hear a faint clicking to go along with the flickering my question is has anyone else had this issue and if you could share the fix it would be appreciated.

yes sounds like the element under the seat cushions is bad and needs to be replaced

Yep. Replacing the driver's side seat cushion, heating element, and cover is not all that hard. If your leather and cushion is in good shape, it shouldn't take you more than an afternoon to take it apart, replace the heating element, and reinstall.

You can check the resistance of the seat elements with a multi meter. If both of those are good, look into your adjustable pedals. Huge tl;Dr it's a tied in with the seat memory module, which likes to go into a safe mode if there's a fault of any sort.

As far as gas mileage goes.... If I'm on the freeway, between 18 and 22mpg. If I'm hauling ass on the freeway it's 15 to 16. City / suburban driving is 13 to 15.

I'm at a rolling average right now of 16.8 but I also don't oft drive in stop and go

Have you tried the passenger side seat heater? I'm pretty certain I have a bad seat back element on my drivers side but my passenger side heat works fine until I try the drivers side. Then the whole system shuts down (as it is designed to)

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but Im having this same issue. My driver side seat control did not work yesterday and the seat would not auto adjust with the memory module. Also the heated seats were not working. I checked the plug under the seat and the orange and black wires were pretty burnt up so i went ahead and bypassed the plug and rewired them. That seemed to fix the seat adjustment and memory recall, also the heated seat temporarily started working again but shortly there after the heated seated went out again. Im kinda thinking that it is one of the heating pads in the seat that is shorting out, also after a bit the foot pedal adjustment stopped working. Im stumped now. My question is for @SnowDrifter how would i go about checking the resistance on the heating element with an ohmeter, and how would you check if the foot pedal have went into safe? Also how would you reset that? Any help is greatly appreciated, it is pretty cold out here in Idaho.
