I had it done on my 07 and it worked great. If the factory one has been disabled they won't mess with the alpha therm (won't be flagged as an open recall). The units are under $100 so it's well worth it.

Yes, you retain the stock button. This unit plugs into the stock harness just like the orginal, under the hood by the break booster. It even snaps right into the factory bracket.
