When I have my heater a/c switch turned off, air is still blowing out the vents in the dash on my 2004 Z71 tahoe . Anyone else have this problem?

I came to this site today to find out about a similar problem on my 04 Yukon.
I get the air on sometimes but my main problem is I can get hot air on the left side and cold on the right while AC is on. This problem comes and goes.. and when it stops I just leave the AC * button on. But I need to fix this.. I have been told it is a sticky gate valve in the ducting and is a real pain to get to to fix.???
I figured someone here has had this problem before.

mine does it slightly. when you turn the climate control off, it feels like it slowly leaks whatever temp you had on last. but before i turn it off, i turn it to like 80 degree and put it on floor vents, then turn it off. itll leak 80 degree air to your feet, instead of leaking it into your face from upper vents

seems to be a great thread there. only 5 pages and it explains things fairly well.
Several folks have the hot air on the driver when ac on like I do. There are two actuator valves.. this one is on the passenger side above the tranny hump. I have taken mine out and bent the tabs inside and am going to see if it now works... There is also a really hard one to get to if your passenger side is not doing what is asked if it.. It is evidently near the radio and a botch to get to. and there is also an air mixer valve.
Let me just say if it blows hot air on you on a hot day you wont last long so I am trying to fix this intermittent problem now.

damn blend door!!!! mine also leaks air thru vents while driving even when off. not sure why, maybe just air coming into engine bay n thru venting system. idk, I do like ATL said, n turn vents to feet also.
