Been having the same weather not to far from you in South Dakota. My windows have fogged up bad a couple of times, but I made sure I cleared out the snow packed down between the windshield and the hood, and it helped out right away. Just my 2 cents worth...

The -8 temps will take a while to warm up these big rigs.

If you have to do that dash tear out to replace the heater core here's what I suggest:

bottle of jack and a warm garage.

May the force be with you when you do that one. I think its the only thing on my tahoe i would be willing to pay someone else to do.

In the Denali theres an acess panel on the passenger side of the car so you dont have to take of the whole dash....im pretty sure. I had the same problem with my Denali and it turned out to be the water pump that was causing my problem.
