Does anyone know if there is more sturdy replacement for the liftgate supports? My door is much heavier then stock due to the soundproofing stuff that I put in there. It was allright when warm, but in this cold the liftgate wants to smack me every time I open it... I should have thought about that when I was doing the soundproofing, but that was summer, and I didn't. The story of my life...
The track is about 80 lbs heavier then stock, but darn it's quiet.
2014 Tahoe LS, manual tailgate.

Go to www.liftsupportsdepot.com and look up your stock replacement. Note the lbs rating. Then see if you can find one with a higher rating and the same measurements. What you're after has been done.

Is Strong Arm better then Lift Supports Depot? SA doesn't have a support rated over stock 244lb. Looks like only LSD has one that is rated at 300lbs. So I wonder how good they are...

I'm not sure if one is better than the other. I have just had good luck with strong arm, but I'd imagine there's really not much difference between brands.

I just push a button and mine goes up or down.

:p Just playin'. I actually don't use the power liftgate much cuz I'm afraid of wearing it out. I just use it when necessary. I, too, have noticed I gotta push up on the gate to get it all the way up since it's been cold. I should probably replace mine as PM. Thanks for posting that link, Nate.

It actually had me considering lifting (permanently) mine instead of lowering it.

Mine is NBS, but the LSD ones were 133, Stabilus was 149, and strong arm was 165. I got the strong arm in a set for the gate and glass from LSD amazon store. They work great. One flick of the handle and the gate goes all the way on its own now.

I see for yours there is the 300 lb LSD option that says "for extra lifting power"

That's what I'm thinking of now. Can't find anything else in this load range. I'm in Canada, and shipping is a killer. Maybe next time I cross the border. If my liftgate doesn't go on crusade sooner...
