Hi,
I am new to this site. My company truck is a 2016 Tahoe, It's a local News "Weather Vehicle". It's all equipped with all sort of equipment. I am a bare bones, no frills car guy and this thing is loaded to the hilt. There are a few things that I am confused about on it and hope I may find some answers here.
I am having issues with a Split Dual battery charging system. The second battery powers my equipment. The solenoid for the split system is suppose to kick in after it has seen 13.4 Volts on the main battery for 5 minutes. However the smart charging system on this truck has out smarted my solenoid. The computer sees that the battery is charge so it reduces the voltage from the alternator. This does not satisfy the solenoid and my second battery does not charge. Is there any way to adjust or stop the computer from reducing the voltage?
Thanks

I don't know about the 2015+ models, but the sensor for this on the '07-'14 models is on the battery cable near the firewall. If unplugged, the alternator will charge full-blast at all times just like in the "good 'ol days"- no Check Engine lights or anything. They probably changed all of this on the newer models but it only takes a minute to look.
