Are they covering the cost?

The GM MRC rear shocks for our rigs just recently became back in stock and available so you lucked out a bit there. There are still quite a few GM OEM online parts stores that show them on "backorder".
Yep! I have an extended warranty. I had no idea they were recently OOS. Thankful that they have them at least but I’m still concerned that I’m going to get the truck back and it still drive like a POS.

If you get it back and the rear-end is still swaying and riding that way the only next things I would think to check would be your rear control arms, rear sway bar mounts and end links, and lateral bar(aka "lateral link" or panhard bar). But I would also think by now your servicing dealer already checked those items.

My rear air compressor went out and the rear-end on my '15 Yukon XL Denali was riding like shit, bouncy, and harsh. There were no error messages on the dash, no service suspension lights, nothing! Like mentioned in a previous post I just grabbed the air bladder portion of the shock and it was never full, always soft, empty feeling.

Yea. The tech did mention to me that he checked the sway bar and links. All checked out.

Someone mentioned in another forum that once a shock goes out it could put the system into “Fail Safe” mode. I get that but I can’t imagine that the tech wouldn’t reset or normalize after installing a brand new set. I would be astonished if it was something as simple as that.

Same thing happened with my '15 Yukon Denali. Shocks were blown out and killed the air compressor with them as it was constantly running. I let it go for a while and never had a dash light or error message either. Only when I unplugged the old blown out compressor and had no compressor until the replacement came did I get a "Service Suspension" or something like that message on the screen.

Well they replaced the rear shocks and it’s riding pretty close to new. I’m pretty satisfied overall. I still think it’s strange that the tech said there was nothing wrong with the rears and they went ahead and replaced them anyways. Who knows. Maybe it was put into fail safe mode when the fronts went and they never reset it. Anyways I’m pretty happy. I think next round I’ll look into upgrading my tires. Still got another 15-20k left on them.

I’ll definitely be keeping an eye of the shocks/ride quality because it does seem like an issue for these trucks.

Glad to hear it is riding close to new. Obviously it will never be 100% the same as the day you drove it off the lot but it will make a difference. I'm about ready to pull the plug and replace mine at 80k now. Not blown out yet but one is leaking for sure. May as replace them and enjoy the ride now.

And tires will make a big difference! Not all are created equal.

Cool man. So are you sticking with the MRC? I see a lot of people ditching it and going more conventional.

I ditched the MRC in my 2015 and replaced with rears that still had the air ride level feature and a plug that tricked the computer to thinking MRC was still plugged in. I was going to go with MRC but the shocks were on national backorder then.

With my 18, since I have way less miles than the 15 did, I'm going to stick with MRC but I'll order the MRC shocks online and save $300-$350 a piece. Will still have dealer install. I did the rear shocks on the 15 myself and it was a long process. Never again.

Please help me understand this. You are saying that shocks air bags should stay inflated for few days?? Cause mine usually deflates few minutes after shutting the car off. Inflate again after I start it. Compressor runs for 10-15 seconds and it stops. Is this normal?
check the rear shocks, the bladder should be inflated even after sitting overnight or even days or weeks before the key is turned on.
you can reach down and squeeze it with your hand, try it before you start the vehicle, then check it again after you start the truck, then check it again after you have been driving around a while before you shut it off
reason being if the bladders inflate when you start it up and then leak out as you are driving then they will not be as firm as they were when you checked them at startup, this would indicate a leak or not.
