Anyway I have a buddy that has the hook up at carquest for discounted parts. Wasn’t sure if my coolant leak was coming from the oil cooler line or my radiator. I was able to pick up a $250 radiator for $150, so I deceided to go ahead & replace all of it.
I wasn’t a fan of pulling the little coolant drain at the bottom & making a huge mess. So I pumped out my radiator, then pulled out all the hoses, etc. & was very please to find nice good looking orange dexcool with no rust, grim or slug anywhere.
Long story short, & lots of hours reading I replaced my battery, took out my battery tray- grind off all the rust & nasty stuff & sprayed it with truck bed liner. Also cleaned my battery terminals with pb blaster & metal wire brush.
Before I replaced the distributor & was not able to get the engine to start I rented a fuel pressure test kit from O’Reilly. I was getting 58psi with the key turned to ignition. Went ahead & replaced the fuel relay & fuel filter just for ***** & giggles.
Cleaned out my entire air inkate housing. Along with a new air filter. I plan on getting a cold air intake soon, any ideas on which one to buy?
Then I took apart my throttle body. It had some black build up, but still not too terrible. I took it off & scrubed it clean with carb/ throttle body cleaner.
Next I replaced my radiator, both upper & lower oil cooler lines. FYI this is such a pain in the ass to connect the ends of the cooler lines. Save yourself the headache & buy the Jiffy Tite quick disconnect tool to replace the little clips. Replaced the upper & lower radiator hoses going into the engine. I kept my old trans cooler lines since they were in good shape, no leaks & ATF looked good. Cleaned out my coolant overfill reservoir, & new radiator cap.
My engine is loving the new radiator & new Dex-Cool, I haven’t sent the engine temp go above 160 yet. No leaks anywhere, everything working as it should.
Changed my oil & oil filter. Added some fuel injector treatment with a fresh tank of gas.
Discovered two little broken tubes that ran from my drivers side of the engine bay over to the passenger side. Took me forever to figure out what they were, turns out they are vacuum lines for the air injector pump, I replaced them as well.
Cleaned up the engine bay alot, still have some work to do though.
All put back together my Tahoe is running better than ever. All my problems from before are gone & no check engine lights. I’m so stoked.
