I'm of the mind set you'll fit that no matter if you drive an XL or SWB. doesn't really matter really IMO. If an idiot it going to bump your ride it being a denali or Denali XL won't make much difference to them

It's a fair point ... but let me tell you what often happens around here.

In a lot of parts of DC and most parts of suburban Md/Va, street parking spots are segmented by meters and lines. The average person reasons that every mm of the space within the lines is theirs, and if you encroach but by an inch they fell justified, nay obligated, to smack your vehicle. :whymewhyme:

**** it, I'm getting a Smart!

You apparently have never been to the beaches down here, where every Canadian and their great grandparent think they own the place. It's tight parking, especially downtown.

I did have the pleasure of parking my more compact Ford Edge in DC awhile back. I can sympathize with the consensus of how other people treat other vehicles, but I don't think that having a vehicle that is <2ft longer in length is going to make them more vindictive. I dunno, DC is a weird place.

Sorry I misread your post. Typical crotchety old man response... :(

Be proactive! You know it's going to happen so just use that thing like a tank! Bump everyone you see and don't worry about the paint!

Seriously though, idiots are EVERYWHERE. Don't let them ruin your fun. Get what you really want, regardless.

Serge, my 5'3" wife daily drives the Burban. She can whip that thing into a parking spot with the best of them.

I just asked her:

ME: "Babe, have you ever parallel parked the burban?"
HER" "yep"
ME: "Was it easy?"
HER: "yep"
ME: (chuckling)
HER: Why are you asking?
ME: (Explains your dilemma)
HER: I pick (our daughter) up at school all the time and parallel park it in the car-pool pick up area. People look at me like "WTF" when they see me park it and get out. I guess they are expecting someone else, but tell Serge if I can do it, he should be able to.
ME: Serge just got owned.

Anyhoot... I am sure I'd have no issues parking that beast. It really doesn't feel THAT much bigger than a Tahoe (I've driven both). Maybe its that we are lowered as it makes you feel like you are backing a car in, I don't know. We have the tilt mirrors for backing and also the reverse camera pops up. I almost never use anything but those two things. I've driven in DC and I think if the majority of these folks driving those blacked out Escalade ESVs, Denali's, and Burbans can do it, you can. :Handshake:

Let me tell you, I like your wife and her style, way to go!!!!!!!

I as well used to own an OBS Style Suburban and I would agree with you, not much difference between the two while you are behind the wheel.

That's my 2 cents.
