Help! My scanner shows a stored code of C0283 - Mode Switch Circuit Malfunction. From what i read, this seems to be related to the Stability Control. I have no lights on CEL or otherwise, and the On/Off button for this seems to work. Anyone else have this problem? Only other problem is occasionally the DIC will tell me to check the tire pressure monitor and sometimes the left front tire doesn't report a pressure, sometimes it does. If the tire wasn't reporting, would my 2005 Yukon possibly deactivate Stability Control? I cleared the code and it comes right back...

Thanks, I'm a new forum member and just got a 2005 Yukon SLT 4.8L.

Has someone recently swapped out the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control module)?

Not that I know of but I just got it so it's definitely possible. Anyway, clearing the code seems to have worked and it hasn't come back yet. I Will check next time the TPMS check message appears.

This code pertains to your ABS system and has ZERO to do with your TPMS system just so you know. Well I hope it stays away.

Sorry to revive an old post but I'm having this problem and yes, the EBCM was swapped. It had a bunch of codes before but I dont remember them, the shop swapped the EBCM and this one remained. They told me it was the switch so I got one off Ebay that was supposed to be new but didn't fix the problem.

They took another look and said they didn't know what the problem was. That was last year and I've just lived with it but now have the truck nice enough that I'd like to get that fixed.

Was going to take it to the dealer but wanted to try it myself. I have a reader that reads ABS codes.

Other new parts: both front bearing hubs and a rebuilt front differential.

Mines never come back since I cleared it lol

Mine won't even clear! I see now that it looks like SLCHOE hasn't been active in two years so I'm hoping someone else knows. It really sounded like he knew what the cause might be if the EBCM had been swapped.

I'm having a hard time finding anything on the web about it and am afraid if I take it to the dealer I'll have a few hundred bucks in it for them to tell me it needs something really expensive
