Im all over the place. One day I want one then see a different one I like. This will be a purchase in the next couple months preparing for hunting season. Only requirements I have are:

285/75/16's
I like RWL or OWL
good heavy 8 or 10 ply
All terrain

These are going on 8" wide rims.

My top few picks:
Mastercrafts, Cooper AT3-So far I have found these two for around $900 out the door except tax locally.

General grabber
I like Nittos, but no RWL on them?
Also have looked at the Pepboys Dakota Definity as I had a set that were pretty good but that was 10+ years ago
I was less than impressed with the wear on my last BFG's so Im not pursuing those but not completely closed to it either.

Thoughts?

IMO, many of the big name brands of old have turned to crap in recent times.

I'd rather look to brands like Nitto, Hankook rather than BFG, Goodyear, Dunlop, Firestone/Bridgestone, and Gooniroyal.

Michelin has usually always been a good tire, but you will pay for them, probably mostly due to the extensive advertising they do.

Got the Kelly Safari ATR's from Dunn for $90 each a month ago.... bought eight of them, 4 for my Tahoe, 4 for my Expedition, and took the 285 General Grabbers on the Expy and put them on my Wrangler.

The Safari's are nice, but the Grabber's would be my choice if I had to choose between the two for playing off-road.

My 1986 toyota 4runner has worn the same set of Big O brand "bigfoot" AT's for about 15 years now. These are 31" by 10.5" on an otherwise stock 4 cyl toyota.

I may look for a set of these when my Tahoe needs new shoes.

I like ebay for tires...

I have an eye on some duratracs for the burban. If the budget opens up or a deal comes up the procomps are awesome. I used to run the extreme AT and loved them
