Ok so I can get some terra grapplers off ebay after shipping for 600 and can probably have some mom n pop place install cheap...so lets say 620 total. i can get the same ones for 720 at discount installed w/warranties and and all that jazz. is the mount and balance at discount that much better than some mom n pop place? is the warranty and whatever else they throw in worth the difference? is the peace of mind going somewhere local rather than buying on ebay worth the difference?

I'm sure there are many guys who will be along shortly with more opinions and experience than me, however ...

IMHO, I like to support whichever local (be it mom and pop or chain) place you think you'll likely use for "service" in the future. They all will take great care of you if you purchased from them. Personally, I've great luck with Les Schwab for two of my vehicles (tahoe and trailer) and Big O for another (minivan), whilst taking care of my parents vehicles has been better handled at a local mom and pop.

Good Luck man ... Oh, before you make your final decision on which tire, at least check out Bridgestone Dueler Revo II. Don't know if that's a route youre interested in, but it's a great tire for these vehicles

i'm looking for an AT that still looks somewhat aggressive...so far the grapplers fit that and at 150 it's not a bad deal.

Are you really being realistic with your price for the mom and pop place to install the tires. I would bet it would be a little more than that. I know around here the going rate is 15-25 a tire mount and balance. So it that were the case you would be looking 660-700. Me personally i would rather deal locally. If you get a free rotation every 5k miles it is worth it depending on how big the tire is. What size tires are you going with?

yeah...not for 227. i'm replacing my goodyear MTRs that i bought 10 years and 40k miles ago. they didn't wear all that well. i need a good AT and these are the best i can find for the price. they have the look and are only costing me 150 a piece.
