Your blinking light is indicate an incomplete shift usually on the front axle. check fuse #24 if intact that leaves you axle actuator or feed back switch or the t-case switch on top of the case. Are you good with a multimeter with ampere functions? I can walk you thru it to narrow it down or you can replace all three parts for about $120 bucks. Can I assume you hear or fell the t-case shifting? being in a cold area the actuator is common. there is conversion for it if you don' want to stick with old method with is more reliable and shift the axle quicker.
