While you are under the truck, check to make sure you can drop the spare. If there's rust on the exhaust like that, the spare tire list may be fubarred.

why not get an slp resonator delete pipe

Is this what you're talking about?

Not bad, I may go that route after I see what the muffler shop says. My concern would be whether it would fit without any modifications. It looks like it's designed to come out under the rear of the truck rather than the side behind the tire.

If they can throw the old tips back on there that's probably what I'll end up doing though, just because it'll be cheaper.

Cheap works too if it has to. save a little coin and buy a new system after winter is over.

the pic they show is not the Tahoe / Suburban pipe. The pipe comes out right behind the RR tire side exit. It is quite nice looking and the sound is not much different than with the resonator installed.

you can put it on yourself, they show in the install directions where to cut the old pipe and the new SLP pipe clamps on with a nice oem style clamp and hangs from the oem rubber hanger.

What are your plans for your ride?

I'd have them throw the old tips back on. It would be less to do that.

Follow up: ended up taking the truck to a Meineke and they charged me $101 to weld the old tips back on. At the end of the day it was the cheapest option and I didn't really want to change the exhaust setup if I didn't have to because it sounds great. From what I saw the rest of the exhaust system looks fine.

I'm glad you got it sorted out.

How do they look now?
Take some pics.
$100 is on the high side but, if you're happy, that's all that matters.

Welp, time to update this thread again. Sorry for not seeing responses asking for pics. Anyways, the exhaust tips have continued to be a minor nightmare.

So as I said before, I took my truck to Meineke and had them weld the Y splitter with tips back on. Probably overpaid at 100 bucks, but that's what they said they charged for a regular muffler job so I just said whatever, let's do it.

Well I'm a dumbass and didn't even consider the fact that the tips were welded to the Y-splitter by the same ****** original welder. While the splitter was reattached to the exhaust system, the welds holding the tips to the splitter were bound to eventually go bad. Lo and behold I look at my truck one day and one of the two tips is completely gone, no idea where it fell off. This was back in February.

I'd been putting off fixing the issue since then until a few days ago I walk out to my truck and see this:

Looks like the Y-splitter itself had been sort of welded closed and now that rusted through.

So for right now I'm probably gonna just leave the whole thing off for awhile and just let the exhaust dump behind the axle. As I said before, the rest of the system seems to look okay so I'm sort of thinking that this isn't a full aftermarket exhaust system but rather just a shoddy resonator delete job. Down the road I may replace the whole system but I'm hesitant because one, it's at least like 500 bucks and two, I love the way my exhaust currently sounds and I'm worried about a new system toning that down.

Anyways, to end this post on a higher note you'll all be glad to know that I got new tires put on last weekend. Also replaced my spark plugs and wires (well, 5 of them. 3 more to do this upcoming weekend).
