Hi all! First post for me on the forum. I was hoping someone might be able to help with a problem I seem to be having on my new to me 06 Denali.

I just noticed that my passenger side brake light isn't working. I popped off the rear housing and the bulb is fine. When I lock the doors the light goes on, but when I hit the pedal the light doesn't work. When I hit the brake pedal the drivers side brake light works but passenger side doesn't. I noticed around the connection to the bulb that the plug looked a little charred. Any idea how to fix this or know what the problem may be if this only affects the lighting on one side of the car and only when you hit the brake pedal? Are there different fuses for the right and left brake light? The bulb isn't blown. I need to get this inspected in VA soon. Thanks for the help.

In most cases, peeps chime in when they know how to help and are able to offer advice. It is possible that no one has experienced something similar to your situation.

Check your manual and see if there are separate fuses for the two lights, this should be very simple to do.

Unfortunately, I can not offer any further suggestions other than to take it to a shop if you can not narrow this problem down.

Sorry I could not be of more help and good luck!

Have you taken a volt meter to the wires just before the connector to see of your getting power there or not?

Also it's a dual filament bulb. You made sure both filaments were good? I would still replace the bulb just in case

I'd replace the bulb as well and see. As YukonXL04 said its a dual filament bulb. The one in my Tahoe burnt out for the brake light but the parking light filament was good. Replace the bulb and see I don't think there are separate fuses either.
