I am sure it has been discussed and documented here, but, will the front brake upgrade clear stock wheels and does it make a difference if is vacuum or hydro boost?

I’m not sure on the vacuum vs hydro boost question as my 2006 has hydro boost brakes. But I do know that to clear calipers for the GMT900 upgrade, minimum of 17 inch diameter wheels are required.

So a stock 17" wheel works and does not have to have a different offset?

It should work. I’d suggest reading through the entire thread in the 2000-2006 section that talks about the upgrade, though, as I’m by no means an expert on this topic. Theres a lot of really useful information in it. I’m running 20 inch wheels and with taller than stock size tires so clearance wasn’t really an issue for me when I did the upgrade.
