Hey guys, I feel really stupid right now. But have I been missing a hose from engine to air box, This whole time I've had the truck?

I should add, the reason I'm asking is... I see that there is a flap that is in the tunnel leading to the air filter, but seems closed & also there's a knob there. Shouldn't this flap be open all the time to allow air in; or does it automatically open, but how?

That's the pre-heat system.
The heat from the manifold is pulled through the hose to the air intake where you see the flap.
The flap should only be open upon initial start up and may be temperature controlled.
Or the spring may expand when warmed and close the flap.

Anyway the preheat is just to help when the engine is cold and should on be open then.

In the summer I put some heater hose under the butterfly to keep it open. you can flip the top cover over too. I put it all back to stock in the winter.

Thanks for the replies guys. Just ordered from amazon, will be here tomorrow. So if i'm understanding correctly, the small valve located by where the hose attaches to air tunnel automatically opens and closes as its heated by the heat from pre heat hose?
Other wise it stays closed?
When I took the filter compartment off , there's another big flap inside, same area that big screw is. The flap was closed, This I don't understand, shouldn't that be open all the time to allow air to get to the tbi? Or does it some how open automatically also?

What does that yellow screw do?

when engine is cold. the flap is closed. this pulls air from the pre heat tube.
once warm enough the valve closes, opening the flap allowing outside air via the primary tube to enter the engine.

As stated, I tear that restrictive crap out. but going by the amount of rust on your frame, I suspect your up north and need the help warming engine up.

Yup I'm in NYC . So if you have a cold air intake, would basically be similar to sealing & removing this stuff? Going to be getting cold here soon, so I'm guessing this will surely come in handy. Thanks for the info ezdaar

What are these breather filters I see for sale for these trucks? Doesn't seem like they're stock to me, because I surely can't find mine?
I know there's allot about the subject of seafoam, but I have a question of you would please. I've done the seafoam through the tank. I've bought the bottle of seafoam with spray nozzle and tube, but being this truck is tbi, what exactly is best way to get the stuff into the tbi? Should I just do through booster line? .
