Hi all,

Had some time this weekend and replaced my factory sub on my Tahoe (non-bose) with a Rockford Fosgate sub. Works fine but I realized the newer sub (had it laying around from an old bandpass box) is 8 ohm. Seems to be a little quieter...is this why? Any suggestions on how to send more power to the factory sub or am I SOL unless I start replacing more components? My eventual plan is to replace all speakers and head unit but this may take a year or two based on $. Also, do I go with components up front, or 3 ways? And if I do components, do I need the supplied crossover or is there already one present with stock system?

the stock sub is 2ohm.. by using an 8ohm sub the amp is making less than half its potential power. use a 2 ohm sub.. aftermarket sub will be less efficient also so a 2ohm sub may still not play as loud.

Gotcha. Well for now I'll keep it but I'm going to pick up a 2ohm in the future. Anyone use the Kicker 10cvt8 8" 2ohm off Amazon?

Just installed the Kicker today! Some trimming of the stock box and new screw holes is all it takes although mine didn't fit as flush as the 3 pics on Amazon. Maybe the Tahoe/Yukon box is deeper than the XL/Suburban one.
