Help with service 4WD light...

Im guessing either my switch is bad or the sending unit.. any help. I used 4 lo to back into my driveway the other night because it was a little slippery in 2wd. Parked it in nuetral and selected auto. Once it went into 2wd i put it in park and turned it off.. Now I left today in 2wd and it seemed to be in 4hi and my service 4wd light is on... I try putting it in N and selecting auto, it goes in 2wd and the light beside auto comes on, then when I put it in drive it goes back in 4wd.....

I've read somewhere that backing up in 4wd than switching too 2wd and then backing up again corrects a stuck 4wd system.
