S.E. OKLAHOMA but trying to move back to TEXAS
My wife threw a rod through the oil pan.... Im looking to rebuild or get a new motor... got about 2000 to spend... its a 99 2door 4x4 with 5.7....goin in with all new acc... would like to upgrade cam and fuel, headers, intake, and a tune maybe if money permits.... any ideas on motors or parts.... i live in oklahoma... its a daily driver and a mud toy on a rare occasion.. i mean rare like any time i find a little hole to play in.... hahahaha thanks in advance for the helps guys

Honestly $2K is a pretty skimpy budget, especially if you are wanting new accessories at the same time. I don't think you can even get a 1 piece rear main seal short block for under that ...

You would have to go with a junk yard pull for around a grand. Then you have enough to maybe do some bolt ons and a tune. You would be better off just grabing a factory replacment engine from GM. Even if the block isn't trashed and the crank is still good, you would be at about 2500 for and engine builder to get it back together in a best case senario.
