well i've had this hesitant starting problem ever since i bought my Yukon back in November, but with the weather warming up and me having some money, i'd like to get it fixed (it's always irked me a little bit). honestly i'm leaning towards having the fuel injection checked out and cleaned, because that's what it seems like.
this happens when you go to start the truck within 4 hours of turning it off.
and with the weather warming up, even cold starts seem to be turning out like this...
leaky fuel injectors causing excess fuel to be dumped in the engine causing (for lack of good terminology and me relating to carberators) a slight engine flooding?
because other than this, my idle is normal and throttle response is fine...
i just don't want it to get to the point where i'm sitting there cranking this thing in the summer while trying to do errands.
i haven't tried holding the pedal to the floor while cranking to activate the flood clear mode, but at the same time i haven't needed too, cuz it does start. just a bit rather slowely.

check fuel filter, and may be fuel pump, not holding pressure and needs to pump back up.

well the fuel pump was just replaced last month because it decided to die for the 2nd time when i wanted to go somewhere >_> the mechanic had to use the old hit-the-tank-trick to get it into the shop to work on it. and it is an OEM replacement, so for now i'm counting that out of the equation.

besides i notice it'll still act like this this even i do a cold start on it 3 hours later and the pump primes it then. i swear i have a fuel injector leak in the engine or something, cuz
either way, i put fuel injection cleaner in my tank and that shit doesn't work long story short.
so he told me to go out and get Lucas Lubricant:

that along with using Mobile gasoline he said will gimme a clean engine.
so i'll try that for a while, but i'm not high on the idea of paying for Mobile since they are the most expensive around here @_@

i also finally stopped delaying and bought an OBDII scanner on eBay. can't wait for it to come in. i'm gonna leave it in the center console. i'll feel much better when i can read my own SES codes, instead of driving it around and freaking out about whether or not i might be damaging something further.

I have the same issue with my 01 Yukon. When I had the shop look at it they said it was a bad computer chip(forget the actual part) and they wanted 1200 just for the chip. So for now I am dealing with it, but let me know if you find a solution.

damn that is one expensive chip @_@
shit, i'd just deal with it too instead of dishing out THAT kind of money. i got other things that need work that'd take priority.
if i find out then ya i'll post what it is.

I had the same exact problem. Three replacement pumps later the problem is fixed *knock on wood* My first pump (origional) was hard to start after the truck warmed up. the second made it hard to start all of the time. the third did not like cold starts, but would start warm. The last replacement pump was a different brand and seems to be doing what it is supposed to do, cold starts and warm starts. That is what happened to me anyways.

yah for now just dealing with it. i dont have to deal with cold or hot starts as its always hot here in south florida. Beast you have a remote start on urs right, the viper? so how is that working out with your hesitant starting issue? hitting the button a couple times before it turns over? just bought the viper system and was wondering if i need to find some resolution to this issue before i install it.

naw, i don't have any remote start or anything on mine :p
though i'd imagine you'd have to set it up to crank over a little longer than the default, if that's even possible.

ya for that price it does sound like a great deal! i'm still praying mine isn't the fuel pump since it just got replaced, and i don't have any other symptoms hinting towards it.
