How's it going guys? First thing, I have searched this topic a lot, but it's hard to find any accurate information (art least, that's what I came up with).

About a week ago I bought a 2010 Tahoe to replace my 2003 that was starting to show its age. I've been looking at lighting upgrades for it. I went with the Silverstar ZXE headlight bulbs, and wow what a night and day difference than the bulbs that were in there.

Now, I want to throw some HID's, or another type of bright white light, in the fog lights. The problem I'm running in to is that there is so much information, that it's hard to sort through. I've come to the conclusion that I want to go with a 25w kit so I don't run the risk of melting the housings. I just don't know who makes a quality kit. Everyone seems to have an opinion on what is good and what is bad.

I may even switch the headlights over eventually, but the ZXE bulbs seem like they'd be good until they burn out.

Thanks in advance for your help.

To get the best light quality you would have to go with a retrofit. You would get the best output for them depending on the set up you go with. Their is so much stuff you can do to these headlights its just up to you what route you want to go with. I do not recommend putting a hid kit on them because instead of getting quality lighting your gonna get a bright light that will not let you get any distance out of them. I ran plug and play hid kits for some time now and ones I had the cash I made my own retro and was the best decision and investment I have ever made.

When it comes to fog lighting theretrofitsource.com has some very good fogs for these trucks. I have seen very good reviews from them.

Another alternative is LED. I just got these Nokya led's for my fogs. I've had hid in the fog in prior vehicles but don't want to melt any housings so I opted for led.

Tried SMD led and CREE projector led. Looks good. But zero light output. Then I finally tried the style with the ballast and wow does it make a huge difference. Finally something thats competing with HIDs. Last time I went with an off brand from eBay and they were great so this time around I went for a reputable name brand to see if there is a difference.
