You're correct, and I really think it's because people aren't getting the new bulbs seated correctly. These bulbs and housings are a pain in the butt, that's for sure.I've read several threads about HID's melting the fog light housing on 07+ models. the current workaround solution in place is getting a 25w ballast versus the norm 35w ballast. But even then, I even read a thread where someone had a melted housing using the 25w bulb... this is why I still haven't done HID's in my fogs...

There are plenty of people that have 35W 5202 bulbs in their fog housings with no issues whatsoever. I run my fogs a lot....even in the middle of the hot, humid summer....they've been in for 1.5 years with no melting, burning, discoloration, damage, etc. whatsoever.
If you get a good quality 5202 and get it seated properly, there is no reason that it should cause any damage. Unless there are some 5202s out there that are different shape/size than others...........???
My DDM set has been perfect.
Do a search for my user name. look at my posts on Projector fog lights.
Or just go to Autozone and buy some glass lense metal body round fogs.
