I hit a mailbox with my passenger mirror trying to avoid someone crowding the center of my neighborhood road, so I need a replacement - housing, glass, everything.

Looking on Ebay for a cheap-ish replacement, of course there are a million options, but I'm not sure which one I need... this is a 2004 Tahoe LT model.

My stock mirrors are powered, power folding and have the turn signal indicators and puddle lights. But most of the ones I see with these options also say "heated". I don't know that my mirrors are heated (or ever were?). I mean, I have never noticed any button or means to heat them, or is it something that comes on when you turn on the rear window defrost button on the climate control panel? I never noticed my mirrors defrosting, and I've owned this truck for 15 years. And if mine were not, if I get mirrors that ARE heated, I assume the factory wiring would probably hook up, how would I control them?

Also wondering if getting 'tow mirrors' is a simple swap out just like any others? I have been towing a trailer more the last couple of years and wouldn't mind maybe getting a little bit larger mirrors - but not the gigantic ones that stick out 2 feet, but something a little better/wider than stock, as long as they can still function the same - are there power-folding tow mirrors like this, that are actually decent quality?

I'm just curious, it's not THAT big of a deal, I don't anticipate this truck is going to survive many more years - 21+ years old, 300k and literally falling apart, so many electrical things don't work anymore, or body panels and pieces falling apart... <sigh> Too bad, I've really loved this truck. But I just need to fix my mirror for now.

I'm open to suggestions for a good mirror or set of mirrors. No more than $100 each at most, would like to keep it cheap as reasonably can.

Iirc the heated mirror function turns on when turning your rear window defrost. I don't remember if that defrost icon is on the mirror glass--probably not. Why not just buy a used mirror? You could probably buy a set for $100--or less.

you just need a dl3 mirror from a 2004-2006 pickup or suv tahoe, yukon, suburban, avalanche, silverado, sierra, escalade.

I appreciate the thoughts. One downside, however, is that I have to go get them. Which means a couple of hours out of my day in drive time, plus time wandering the yard, finding the right ones and pulling them. It'll mean essentially a half-day, or whole afternoon. And hoping they still work when I get them home and try them out. And then I've got a 'new' set that is already 20 years old and could go out tomorrow.

So I was hoping someone had gotten some good aftermarket ones and could point me to something that they know is of decent quality. Yes, I can hit a salvage yard, but as with anything electrical (blend door actuators, window switches, A/C control units, etc.,) it is kind of caveat emptor. Of course, I do acknowledge the fact that buying aftermarket parts on Ebay is also caveat emptor, as well.

Failures on the gmt800 mirrors are rare, used will be fine
aftermarket one's most of the time are not a very good match or are of pretty low quality.
i.e. the led will not match the drivers side and the glass may be distorted as well
they are typically hard to find in a yard as people ****** them up quick, but if you do find one you can pull it in about 5-10 minutes
remove door panel, remove 3 screws, disconnect harness, done
any gmt800 mirror labeled as DL3 on the inside edge where the 3 bolts are will work, or if you cannot see the label if it has a puddle light and led signal on the glass and is for gmt800 it will work.
DL3 is the option code and is good from 2004-2006, the same code is used for 07+ but the mirror housing and wiring is different and will not fit or work
