I know HIDs have been covered a million times, but I just wanted to get some opinions.

I have a 2003 Denali with 8000k lows and fogs and 4300k hi beams. My passenger side low has faded a bit so I was going to order new ones from DDM. I was thinking about going with DDM 6000ks, however I think I wanna do 55w in my lows. If I get 55w 8000k lows will they match 35w 6000k fogs?

I am also going to do my reverse lights and DRLs. Does anyone have any experience with putting HIDs in their DRLs? I know there is a voltage issue so a relay is needed, but I am concerned about the housing melting from the higher temperature.

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated!

the higher the wattage, the hotter they will be with increased output over 35w.

8000 will be purple/blue
and cause lots of glare for other drivers (as well as yourself)

I would reccomend not going above 5000k on low beams
(there's a reason that all factory HID's are 4100-4300K)

the glare isn't nearly the issue when in high beams, they should not be used in heavy fog/rain/or in traffic

When my old 6k light went out, I upgraded to a DDM 8K 55W and that seemed to match the 6k 35w pretty well. The blue hue was extremely minor, if much at all. FWIW, if you dont like it, just order another pair of bulbs for $15. BTW expect some great customer service from DDM and a LONG wait for the items to arrive, just a heads up!

Thanks for your replies!

So i placed my order today. I went with 55w 8000k for the lows and 35w 6000k for the fogs, reverse, and DRLs. Hopefully they will arrive by the weekend so I can get them all in!

Do you have any pics of your current setup?

So from what I have read you have to change the ballast and bulb if you want to go from say 35w to 55w. What about if you want to go down in wattage? Can you just change the ballast?

Sadly no current pics! When I get back to the states, my wife will have the camera for two more months. I need to update my sig pic. It still shows the bug shield from when I bought it!
