Hello,
As an avoid bicyclist and car nut, i can honestly say that HIDs DO have starting problems in terms of lighting up in cold weather for bicycle applications. Bike shops that sell them will agree. I doubt that would even be an issue with an automobile though. Contrary to what the last answer said, HIDs do have gases in them.
