HID Reverse light install

just did this install on my tahoe... looks SICK with the G4 LED tails.. took me longer then normal bc i soldered the wires together to make sure they don't ever come un-done.

i know im digging this up from the grave but I was curious what wattage you folks have used in the reverse lights? 25W? will 35W melt the housing?

Me and most others used the 35w HIDs in the reverse lights. They can melt the lights but they would have to be on for atleast 4 minutes. Nobody stays in reverse that long.

I use the 35W ballast for my high beam, low beam, and reverse lights. No it will not melt the housing because the only time it is on is when I am in reverse or if the car is on and I press the 'unlock' on the key fob. Unless you wire in a dedicated switch to it and leave it on for an absorbent amount of time, I don't think you will have issues.

Well just ordered a set of 35w 5000's for back up and 2) sets of 35w 6000's for fogs and headlights. Living in the country this should help backing down the driveway. Maybe I can quit rolling down the windows and finally look out the back window...Lol

I bet those would light up way better that the stockers when using the reverse camera at night! I can only imagin!!

I could tell a noticeable difference in my rear cam view at night after the HID reverse light install :Handshake:
