I have a 2015 LTZ Suburban and the HID headlight assemblies have gotten moisture in them and has caused the DRL led strip and signal light to stop working. I’m wanting to replace them with a halogen headlight assembly to save money. I can get the halogen assembly for $3-400 for a set and HID’s are 5-600 for 1. Has anybody done this or know if it can be done. Will BCM need to be reflashed? What will need to be done to make it work?

Hey, I’m in the EXACT same situation. This is one of the reasons I can’t stand this vehicle, but that’s another story.

Any luck on finding an answer??

This just seems like a bad idea...
Potential costs/issues in reprogramming BCM.
Potential costs/issues with headlight wiring harness and affects n the function of parking lights, turn signals, etc.
Not to mention the affects on resale value.

Thanks for the input. Some good points in there for sure. Chuckled a bit at the resale comment. Anything would be better than the fish tank driver side headlight assembly it has now. Thanks GM. giphy.gif

No I get it, the factory headlights leave a lot to be desired, even the factory HIDs. As far as the "resale value" goes; I think it would be more of a concern to the next buyer or dealer you traded it into. The average Joe is going to think "Hmm... So you're LTZ has Halogen headlights when its supposed to have HID? So you had a problem with your headlights and when you replaced them you downgraded and didn't put back in what should be there?" It'd be more of a "red flag" concern to the average person who thinks "headlights are headlights, either they turn on or they don't"...

The reason why the factory GM headlights aren't that good is not because of the bulb or type of light. It has more to do with the projector itself and the projector lens used. I have a '15 Yukon XL Denali and I upgraded my factory HID D3S bulbs to Osram CBI's some pictures in this thread here (Post #25): https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/2017-yukon-denali-head-lights-are-terrible.115485/page-3
