led safest way, but they are for looks. Hid will put more light out, but there are some who experienced Melting Housings, while others have not at all. Me personally have Leds.

If you want HID's and don't want your housings to melt, get a kit with a 25 watt ballast, it doesn't put out enough to burn the housings. Anything above will.

LED's do look cool, but you'll get no real use out of your fogs if you do. Right now I have 35-watt HID's in mine, the melting isn't bad in mine so I just never think about it. Plus I hardly use them.

I have a 35w Kit(i believe) in my 2008 Silvy. Never melted any housings, and i always have my fogs on while driving. :hmm:

I have 35W DDM Tuning 3000K 5202 bulbs in my fog lights.... They've been in there for 1.5 years and I run them almost all the time when driving at night. I've never had an issue with melting or even any discoloration or anything like that.

It's tricky to get the 5202 bulbs seated just right in the housings...I'm guessing that's what causes most of the melting issues when people don't get them centered and seated just right. Just a guess.......

LEDs will be just for looks....they will put off very little light. Maybe even less than the stock halogens????

LED = This is what I use but BEWARE: Virtually No light output! Purely for looks. Looks clean though :Handshake:

HID's in fogs = some say it works... some say their is a risk of burning/melting housing by incorrectly seating the bulb, risk of burning the housing because of 35w instead of 25w ballast (some disagree with this and think its because of poorly seating the bulb correctly... you know who you are haha)

Hey, it's just a theory. They're a pain in the butt to get in there correctly, so I think it would be pretty easy to overlook if they weren't in quite right.

Who knows.....I'm just trying to think of why some people would have issues and others wouldn't.

Maybe there are different "sizes" of 5202 bulbs out there that are causing the issues. For you people with melting issues, what brand of HIDs do you have?

Its your choice. You should really think about what you want them for. Do you want them for looks or light? How much do you think you will use them? Ive had both and like both. I run my fogs all the time day and night, so I melted my housings with HID's.

When I put my fog HID's in the clip on the OE bulb had been broke and even that bulb melted the housing because it wasn't seated correctly
