I love the blacked out look of the smoked housings, but I don't want to be blind if i drive at night. I'd love to black out my grille and put these on:

I'm wondering how HID's would work in the smoked housings? I know the output would be diminished, but would a 55W unit in a smoked housing be comparable to a 35W unit in a clear?

Edit - just saw these on their E-bay listing, what does everyone think?

ALSO - thinking about these, and using HID's.....

hard to tell from the picture but are the reflectors in the housings black or just the front of the lense?

if its just the front you'll probably be alright.

not feeling the tail lights, they look like they stick out in the picture, like a bubble. but to each there own.

Several guys here have bought the smoked lens, and then complained about the light output. Then they promptly got clears. I also think they look really nice, but ended buying clears based on their complaints.

unknown at this time.
the lense it self looks clear yiu can see really no difference when looking thru ther bulb opening so it must be the rst of the housing minus the reflectors. It gives a darker look that the reflectors are hard to see.

Well, Here's your answer! A fella just posted up pics of his smoked out lens HERE.

Look at the Jeep's turn signals in this photo. Then look at the Tahoe's. Can't see a thing on the Tahoes. Straight on, they look to be ok, but hit them at an angle and the light output drops off pretty good.

Sorry I was wrong I should have noticed it did not have the socket notches. I personally want black out bodies but with working reflector and clear lenses. Has anybody got a picture of those with 35w 5500k hid with lights on and off?
