I have looked around, but I was hoping to find someone with real-world experience using LEDs.

You'll have to search the forum, there are not too many regulars on here anymore with 800s that changed to aftermarket lamps with LEDs.

I have looked around, but I was hoping to find someone with real-world experience using LEDs.

I installed LEDs everywhere except instrument cluster and creature comfort controls. The LED turn signals and taillights gave me hyperflash (really quick cadence) and the cruise control ceased working. Swapping out the flash relay under the dash cured the hyperflash and adding resistors to the taillights brought back cruise control. I've read that some taillights now have resistors built in that keep those two functions operating normal. Here's a link to the relay if needed -
