I know what I am going to do with my Tech 2 this weekend. I am going to see how to sweep the gauges and see what is going on, if anything, with my oil pressure gauge when I shut down a warm engine. I just thought it was just being lazy because, as I said, if I cycle the key right after it goes to zero. It appears to read accurately during my driving. I guess I could monitor with the Tech 2 and see how accurate it is.

The gauge goes to zero when it’s completely off, but jumps to 30 as soon as it’s switched to the ignition position. I’ll have to try cycling today.
If it was just the stepper, would it flip the code? It seems like the computer would read the sensor for that code, not the stepper.

Again, I know my Tahoe is a 2002 and yours is a 2010 Yukon, but I just went out and after sitting overnight my oil pressure gauge was reading at 30 psi. I turned the key to the KOEO ad it dropped immediately to zero. I then started the engine and it went to 50 psi and then I shut it off and it dropped to about 25 psi but as I watched it the needle was jumping maybe 2-3 psi back and forth but was steadily dropping but never back to zero. I am going to look in to this deeper. I now don't like this thread because I may have a stepper motor problem.

I was always so proud that my rig always ran at the minimum of 45 psi and would climb higher when under a load condition. I don't think I really have a problem with pressure but I do apologize for high jacking this thread.

I tried a few cycles this morning while replacing a headlight, and rear window washer. Always the same:
zero pressure at rest
Climbs to 30-35 at ignition
Climbs to 65-70 when running

I tried to reach the sensor, and again, wow, it’s back there! I can touch and see it but can’t even unplug it!!

Yea, that engineer/designer that put that sensor in that location needs a ***** slap.

When I did my KOEO this morning my gauge went to zero. Yours went to 30-35 or was that while cranking? Mine stayed at zero till I started cranking and then higher when engine started. Different years so I am now curious more and more about this.

It seems like the vast majority of sender problems are for low-no pressure. Since mine is high, I’m now thinking it might be the stepper on the gauge.
I also noticed remote start doesn’t work now...I suppose that’s the result of having an engine code? - new horrors everyday!!

It seems like the vast majority of sender problems are for low-no pressure. Since mine is high, I’m now thinking it might be the stepper on the gauge.

Just change that sensor first. Be sure to use the Delco unless you feel like jamming your arm in there again in s month.

And yes; the code prevented the remote start function. All better now!

Glad you got it fixed... just FYI, ANY CEL will prevent the remote start from working.
