Looks great!

Are you still happy with the ride quality? Are you riding at the stock height?

I'm thinking of going with the same setup on my 07 Denali XL, but not sure if I should go with 20" instead since it's a daily driver with a lot of long weekend road trips.

Is the 285/45/22 the equivalent to 275/55/20?

Having gone from 17s to 20s to 22s now.......... I have experienced the most loss in MPG by being on 22s. It looks great, but it does cost a little more. The truck "feels" a little heavier...in my case anyway.

Yes....

285 45 22
275 55 20
265 65 18
265 70 17

are all tire size equivalents and are OEM issue sizes.

Great info!

How about the ride quality? On a previous smaller car I went from 17s to 18s then back to 17s. The 17 seemed to be the sweet spot for wheel size.

Putting aside looks and MPG, was there much difference in ride quality between 20s and 22s?

No..... it's stiffer but only slightly and not enough to be worried about it. Certainly not enough to give up the looks.

I don't think it rides bad at all....

Yes, ride quality is no worse than the 20, running same tires. I settled on 32 psi cold.

I am however experiencing some vibration issues over 50 mph. wheel doesn't shake but I can feel it and it bugs the ever living shit out of me. I took it to a 2nd shop with the road force balancing machine and they said all was good. they couldn't feel the vibration they said and they couldn't find anything remotely worn to recommend replacing. I was starting to think I was nuts and took a 2.5 hour all highway road trip with a friend and he could feel it.

I rotated the tires today, just front to back, and it's better but still there. I don't know if it's the rims or tires.

Never had an issue with aftermarket wheels before, maybe one of the tires. I need to get it over to discount tire where I got the tires. I didn't have the issue before the rims and tires so it has to be one of them. I could just have a bad tire or something, I really don't think it's drivetrain or suspension.

even with this issue I know it's not related to the 22 size because under 50 she rides just as smooth as before.

I'm open for suggestions! I will sell or trade these wheels if I cannot get resolved and I sure don't want to, they look great an no one has them around by me!

Oh on my road trip at 72 mph cruise on I with 4 adults and 2 kids I got 18.9 overall, reset the trip meter when I left. If I drive the old 2 lanes I can get close to 19.5. I have the 3.42 gears and just the noisy intake tube. Blackbear tune in 2 weeks!

Oh, another thing that just oozes confidence about the quality of these wheels, got this email from the eBay seller earlier in the week:

Dear al2fast,

YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS SORRY FOR NOT HAVING IT IN LISTING READ HOW TO CLEAN AND NOT CLEAN THESE WHEELS DO NOT USE A CAR WASH THAT USES CHEMICALS TO CLEAN THE VEHICLE*
DO NOT USE ANY WHEEL CLEANERS AT ALL OR ANY CHEMICAL CLEANERS IT WILL TAKE THE FINISH OFF THE WHEELS
WHEEL CLEANERS CAN AND WILL REMOVE THE FINISH OR STAIN OR DISCOLOR THE WHEELS*
USE ONLY SOAP AND WATER & USE ONLY HIGH GRADE CLEAR COAT POLISH
Damage from using abrasives or polishing compounds USE ONLY HIGH GRADE CLEAR COAT POLISH THANKS BOB

- kens-tires

Been through a car wash or 3 and they have not fallen apart yet. Gotta love don't use wheel cleaner on your wheels. I was already resigned to the fact that they were ebay specials and they may not be as durable as factory wheels and the price reflects that and I would rechrome them in the future if necessary because I really like the look.

One other thing, I'm torquing to 140 ft/lbs. I don't think doing less would make a difference.

Now you know why I drug my feet on buying these?

I talked to Ken of KensTires on the phone. Like I said before.....

He was actually surprised that someone found him and gave him a call. I asked him about the warranty and he said there was none..... then I said who makes them? He said OE.... and told him they have a 1 year finish and he's was like..... oh Yeah.... They have a one year.... Why I passed on them 2X.

I have PVD AR840s and they scratch like crazy... and after 1 year they stated peeling on the PVD side and also the clear coat is peeling on the back.

You really won't be able to claim warranty if anything does wrong with them anyway. They will just say you failed to maintain them.

Best thing you can do, or anyone who buys new wheels is put CARPRO DLUX on them from day one..... or as soon as possible.

As far as the balancing thing, a vendor here said they have had problems before with OE Wheels wheels. So that is why he stopped selling them

How much weight is on them?

Also, I asked about rechoming / refinishing locally, they told me 200 per wheel. They would have it give it a chemical stripping bath (PVD or CHROME).

Doing the math does not add up. 800 just to refinish the old wheels????

In the end its why people run them up until they start having problems with them, then they end up on CL.

Thanks for the input, maybe powder coating black will be the way to go if the finish goes to pot, I have never got pricing on chroming anything. I did notice that I did scratch one of the wheels with the plastic center cap when I was popping in a new one, WTF!!! Stock rims you use a screwdriver to get off the center cap to get at the lugs and that chrome never showed a mark from that!

I probably only put 500 miles on the stock wheels that were on the truck before getting these and I do recall it riding not like I'd have expected on a road right by my house, very bouncy. My old SD rode like shit on this road too, but my crappy work car PT Cruiser rides WAY smoother and it is butter in my wife's 11 535i, but that's apples to oranges, car ride to truck frame vehicle ride.

I've read some stuff about some trucks having the torsion bar set out of whack in the front and the front end is riding on a bump stop. I also need to check u-joints. AND probably the biggest thing I need to do after is check my calipers on my brakes. When I got this truck the stealership put on new pads and rotors on the rear. After my first couple times getting out in the garage it reeked of brake pad. It since has left, but the odor was very strong and I never experienced that before after doing a brake job and I have done more brake jobs than I can count. Brakes don't pulse, but maybe one of the rotors is out of balance or something.

Plus I think my ride expectations are probably too high, but the level of vibration does seem a high. I'll check on how much weight is in each wheel when I get home.

Edit: Lee, I do have a question for you. You say you have the American Racing 840's with the PVD finish. How is that relevant to the OE Wheel Chrome wheels? Are they made by the same MFG? Are you thinking maybe these are not chrome and in fact PVD? I wouldn't know how to tell the difference if they are both chrome looking and shiny! All I know is this chrome finish looks more orange peely than the stock chrome wheels, like maybe it's thinner or just that the prep work on the wheels prior to chroming wasn't as good. Then I stand up and take 2 steps back and they look immaculate...for now!

Wait what?

Really?

I am not trying to be a Jerk, but this is the original listing.

These ARE PVD and NOT Chrome.

That is what I was saying, PVD scratches very easily but can be polished out like paint. PVD is a form of Powdercoating.

Wasn't implying you were being a jerk that is why I asked. I just realized now that I bought pseudo chrome. Just pulled up the description from my eBay and it says "PVD 22x9" CHROME 2015 GM STYLE CK156 REPLICA STYLE WHEELS 6x5.5 bolt pattern, +31 offset" I honestly thought PVD was part of the style and not some shit chrome and I just went back to the listing now...I knew I should've just bought the slides. Wish I could go back and change my feedback on these wheels now. Do you just use polish for your car to get out the scratches? Have to get some protective coating on them asap. Thanks for the enlightenment.

Pvd is actually preferred more than chrome in many circles.
