THe horn on our 2004 Suburban doesn't work when you press on the steering wheel. It just quit working recently. It does still work on the key fob panic button and when I lock the doors. I have also checked the fuse and it is good.

Any thoughts on where I go from here?

Thanks

I had that issue in an old chevy truck. It was a connection issue in the column. If I cut the wheel all the way to the right and held it, the horn would honk. It passed inspection like that too. Never fixed the problem though. Try popping off your airbag and check to see if everything is connected behind it.

I have the same problem on my '04 Yukon SLT. Bought it new and also bought a Sierra 1500 about 6 months earlier in '04. I have since replaced the Sierra 1500 with a new truck, but experienced the same problem. At first, the horn would work intermittently, then eventually quit working completely. Now, the Yukon is experiencing the same symptoms. The horn works intermittently when I press the on the steering wheel switch, but it does work via the key fob panic button and/or when locking and unlocking via the key fob. The Yukon has about 165K miles on it. And I think the Sierra 1500 started having this problem about the same mileage, so it seems as this may be a typical problem with the '04 models. Any help would be appreciated. I am experiencing a few other minor problems with the Yukon, but I will address those issues separately. Thanks guys.

My '05 does it. I needed to fix the horn to pass safety inspection so I pulled a few things apart. The culprit for me was one of the wires underneath the airbag. They seem to get kinked to the point of having a poor connection inside the insulation, so I just pulled the airbag off (disconnect battery, pop a small pick/screwdriver inside each hole on the side of the wheel and push in) and un-kinked the wire. Has been working fine now for ~4 months.

I do plan on soldering in a new wire there, but haven't bothered yet. That's a winter project...
