I have a 2007 with the factory 2007 20" tahoe wheels. I know these must be coated wheels because the wont polish with mothers or aluminum polish. Mine are getting a little cloudy and wont polish out all the way. Any tips on making these things pop again. i wont the to shine like chrome but i know they wont , somebody give me a tip.

I think they have a clear coat. You could try wet sanding the clear off all the way to the polished aluminum and sealing them with a different type of clear. I have never tried it before. It may screw everything up.

Some people are doing it, I don't know the easy way to get the clear off.

On a 96 s-10 the clear was peeling off, so upon recommendation used aircraft stripper with plastic scrapers, melted and scraped the clear off. It was a mess, and half way through wish I wouldn't have started. But almost 3 hours later the clear was off. I was going to paint them black, just never did.

Maybe there are better ideas out there these days.

Leave them be. Sell them and get what you want.

IMHO, the chance of screwing them up even more is too great.

If things go wrong, good luck selling them then.

If you still want to keep them, I would leave the clear alone, and get some high quality polish. After polishing them seal them with a paint sealant.

Treat it just like a oxidized paint job.

if they are cleared, try some rubbing compound for paint... maybe treat them like a painted surface

Maybe see if you can find a used one or even a junk one to try the aircraft stripper on, I used that stuff on an old mountain bike and it was awesome!!! I just sprayed it on let it bubble the clear and sprayed it off with a garden hose. No real mess for me and the results were insane you would have thought that I chromed the bike when I was done. If you try this I would highly Reccomend that you take your wheels off the truck though.
