Thought I was having a rear suspension problem with the clunking noises I was getting on bumps and turns. Then realized that if I close the liftgate manually with a pretty firm push, just occasional clunking. But if I let the auto-mechanism close it, then just before it latches I get a thunk that wasn't there before, and the liftgate clunks and rattles.
Doesn't look like the catch that the latch clamps to is adjustable like most vehicles so I wrapped a couple turns of electrical tape around the mating surface. And the bumper on the right side of the liftgate wasn't even contacting the liftgate inner surface and it's not adjustable either. So I pulled it off and put a thin washer between the base of the stop and the sheetmetal. Voila no more rattles or clunking.
But this is a couple of really bogus temporary "fixes". Must be a better way to properly adjust. Dealer says they'll send it to their body shop to look at but it'll not be covered under warranty since it's "an adjustment" and will cost $230 min to look at.
Something on the liftgate must be adjustable.
