I thought some models they slide up. Is there a chance of breaking the retaining clips if pulling too hard or if the plastic is cold? They come off the same way they have been forever. Look at a video for a 2008 or 2002. They just snap on.

There is always a chance of breaking the tabs as well as the mirror itself if you’re not careful. I have done it a few times without an issue. I adjust the mirror to the position that gives the best access to the back of it and use a plastic pry tool to get behind the backing plate to get it started then get my fingers in there. When you get it out far enough, disconnect the wires.I thought some models they slide up. Is there a chance of breaking the retaining clips if pulling too hard or if the plastic is cold?
