How exactly does the wifi work?

On Star Canada charges way to much for WiFi but i have another service that charges $15 a month for unlimited WiFi, does anyone know exactly how the car gets the connection? is there a hidden sim card somewhere i can swap or is it a CDMA connection? Also does anyone know what component actually gives off the WiFi signal? Is it the radio? The My Link unit or something else?

Not sure about Canada, but in the US, we can add the vehicle for $10/mo to our existing ATT wireless plan ... I'd never buy the data thru Onstar
