We're a family of 4 the kids are 4 and 3. Dad is 5'11" and mom is 4'11".

We are camping at the beach in 2 weeks. What are the chances that we can squeeze in the back of we pull out the third row and tumble the second row?

We have a tent but I wonder if we can sleep in the Yukon if it gets too cold for the kids.

Any first hand experience?

Thanks in advance for any comments and/or suggestions.

I have perfect first hand experience for you. My parents about the same height and me and my sister a little older than that ended up sleeping in the back of a 1991 ford bronco 2. So a vehicle much bigger than that shouldn't be too difficult to figure out sleeping arrangements. Can't promise it will be the best sleep you've had lol but it can definitely be done.

I did it once. Went to a party and planned on sleeping off a few beers before driving home. Just pay attention to the gaps between folded down seats, your going to want to fill those gaps. A foam pad or blow up mattress would be nice as well.

Sounds good. We do a test run to see if our mattresses fit

Obeezy,
I'm curious to know how it went?
I'm planning on doing something similar in my Tahoe.

Get an inflatable air mattress. with the cig plug adapter. It would make a great bed for all of you. Or maybe three of you and one at your feet? They're like $15-$30 at walmart. And the newer ones are certainly tough enough for the back of your truck. I wouldn't sleep out on the ground with one. But inside would be killer.

I've seen tighter spaces for 2 adults and a couple kids. I think you'll do fine. Probably already went this is an older post. lol. This is why I got the XL. Die'ing to know how it went.

How did it go?

I can tell you how it went for me, great. My situation was a little different but, still went very well. This was no weekend at the beach, that's for sure.

Bought an $8 twin air mattress and $10 pump from Walmart. Made cardboard templates to cover the back side windows and a black out curtain for the back window and one draped across right behind the front seats.
The twin air mattress was a tight fit for sure in a Tahoe but it worked. Was dark at night and turned out to be pretty comfy.

mom is 4'11"

I think she can sleep standing up in the center console?

yeah, let us know how it worked out.

i was thinking a "baby bed" or crib mattress if this is going to a recurring event/trip, my cousins had a wooden platform (like a park bench) made for the rear seat of an old dodge car, behind front seat & level with rear seat, made a level bed for kids back there, FL to NC and back all the time.
