New to this forum so this is my first post.

Need some advice on how many miles is too many to be dumping more money into my 2007 Yukon XL Denali.

Short backdrop: purchased in 2012 with 140,000 miles in pristine condition. Driven by dealership owner for 6 months after traded in. I've been meticulous about oil changes every 3k since taking her in. Currently have 180k and shocks are shot. Compressor runs every time it's started and eventually times out. I'd like to keep the factory air ride but is it worth it to keep spending not knowing how much longer this ole' beast can make it. It runs strong but definitely sounds and runs better after she warms up. How long can I expect this truck to hold out.

Just bought new tires yesterday and I need some advice on which way to go with the suspension so I can get her ready before heading home for Christmas.

I just put all new front and rear OEM shocks/struts on my avalanche along with a new compressor assembly from dorman. Total cost was around $1200. To me it was well worth it. The truck drives and rides like brand new again. I have rode in a few trucks with the arnott stuff on them and to me they feel very sloppy. The problem with them is you are not getting a new shock, you are just getting a worn out shock with a new air bag. They will buy your old shocks from you so you can make $50 or $100 back off that, I can't remember.

Amazon was the cheapest place on the fronts, rock auto was cheaper on the rears and the compressor set up.

almost 155k for mine and running strong. Around 135k had a lifter fail and dealt with some oil pressure issues following that but at this point I'm still putting money into it and expect it last a long time. The issues we had at 135k are the only only major issues we've had with it and we bought it with right around 100k on it. I'd feel pretty confident in a 2012 with 140k  Obviously, those are all highway miles and if maintained well those should have been pretty easy miles.

07Burb, Mine is a 2007, not a 2012. Are the AC Delco the equavalent of the OEM?

I've been looking at the Arnott systems as well as the Monroe conversion kits?

Has anybody used the Monroe with any success? It's looking good with the much cheaper price for the entire system.

I was referencing the 2012 with 140k that you posted about in your original post. Maybe I misread

I think he meant that he bought it in 2012 w/140K on it.

Anyway... What comes to OP's original question, I guess a lot of it depends what you want yourself. Is your truck paid for? If you get another one, are you going to have to finance it? If the current one is paid off, do you want to have another car payment? Why not put a few possible car payments into the suspension refresh?

With maintenance and care the truck should still last for a long time. Plenty of these out there w/200K+ miles and still going strong. My GMT800 Yukon XL has 250K miles and no issues to speak of.

Suspension is a wear/tear item, so we all have to work on it at some point. Yeah, it's a bit expensive, but usually worth it. I'd go with Arnott replacements. Somehow I don't trust Monroe stuff at all...

oh I gotcha...to sum up my post then if it's me and the vehicle is still running strong I'd hang on to it and continue maintaining it and doing whatever with it until I deem it as worn out and no longer can depend on it.
