How many quarts does a 2011 Yukon Denali 6.2 need? Getting mixed answers.

I'm getting mixed answers. Owner s manual says 6....other sources say anywhere from 5 to 7. It has a cam if that matters.

Quarts of what, oil?

If so, 6 with a filter change, then check level on dipstick

All of these motors have a camshaft. A cam won't have anything to do with oil capacity

No offense, but why would you not believe the owners manual? That's kind of written by the guys who build it. I would think that's the best information.

If you're preparing to do an oil and filter change, do it and add 5 quarts. Run it for 20 or 30 seconds with it on level ground and shut it off. Let it drain down for a few minutes, then top it off to the full mark on the dipstick. Note how much it took and Robert's your mother's brother.

6 quarts. Oil dropped and filter changed. Been this way for almost 20 years.
