How strict on tint are they in California?

I'm from Texas but will be spending all summer in LA. I currently have my front windows with a 35% film and I'm wondering how much of a problem I'll have. Should I get them stripped or take my chances?

Depends what part of CA. When I lived in the bay area I would get a ticket every 4-6 months. Since I moved to the valley I haven't had any....

Well, if you are keeping your Texas plates there's actually nothing they can do about it...

I just saw that you have 35% on your front windows, I don't believe there is a state that would bug you about that light of tint.

Mine literally is 1% above Texas legal (25% is legal) and when I got my state inspection they had me at 26% on their meter. With that said it's something like 37% film on top of the 70% glass.

I'll be in Newport then off to Vegas and back over to Texas. I probably should put my front plate back on before I head there, yes?

You'll be fine in newport. I had a 01 Jaguar x-type for one year bought the car without front plates and never got pulled over. Lol I mainly drive on the freeway though thats probably why.

Yeah I called the PD and said I'll be in town for a few weeks on business and they said I'd be fine since I have Texas plates. Thank god because I definitely didn't want to get my windows stripped and retinted at the end of summer
