My boss has a black 2010 Yukon xl denali with everything blacked out except the roof rack and wheels. Everything was painted at a body shop. It looks so sick.

Well, if you must ...

You can get both oem and aftermarket black grilles (lower/upper), some even without the GMC emblem, or you can have that plasti-dipped or painted black.

Roof rack, again you can have the chrome part painted or plasti-dipped, tho painted is better to match the gloss black caps, same with the rear bumper step pad chrome molding.

Side moldings just come off with a heat source and some fishing line, then a little adhesive cleaner.

Door handles you can swap for oem painted gloss black.

The chrome trim on the rear bumper is clipped onto the step pad ... if you paint it it should't cost too much, or you can leave it on the truck, protect the surrounding are with newspaper, and plasti-dip it.

Roof rack I'm not sure ... I think member sumo has a write up on how he did his. I'll try to find a linkie for you.

The grille chrome surround sounds a little trickier ... maybe someone that knows how to do that can chime in.

And yeah the door moldings are easy ... if you are careful not to mess them up when you remove them you will easily find folks here who will buy them from you. Then you just have to decide if you want the truck without any moldings and badging or if you want to get the base yukon/tahoe side moldings, have them painted, and put them on your truck.

THis writeup is mostly aimed at showing how to install the rack if you don't have one ... the painting is the only relevant part to you.

I don't know cause it varies a lot.

Your best bet, and what I did when I had my black Tahoe is the following.

Go into your dealer's body shop and strike up a friendly convo with the manager. Tell him you have some bits you want painted and how much he would charge you to do the work next time they are spraying a bigger job (usually insurance) by throwing your parts in there.

You have a common color and they almost always have extra paint when they finish normal painting.

If the guy/lady is cool he'll discount it for you accordingly. You might have to hit more than one GM dealer to find a friendly body shop manager.

I was lucky and had/have an ongoing relationship like this and I get all my painting done at a fraction of the price. :)

before gping to a paint shop . read up on plasti-dip . its a must have for chrome haters. its a spray on rubberized paint . and if you dont like it or if it chips you can peel it off like paint :D

One word of advice, especially with the roof rack and the grille surround.

I don't know how long you plan to keep this truck, but unwinding those two bits if they have been painted is mucho $$$.

So provided you are okay with how it looks, use plasti-dip whenever possible.

And I believe there's even a gloss version available.

yeah you can get a gloss one, but i personally think flat black gives anyone a ***** on anything. plus if you want extra reinforcement, you can get a clearcoat to go on top, that as far as i know will not have the same wear as paint (rock chips, sunfade etc..) and if you think this is too good to be true, it isnt haha people are going nuts over this stuff.
