We purchased our 2004 Yukon XL Denali with the bose sound system about a year ago. The stock head unit had been replaced and we have no sound from the stock overhead DVD player. The head unit is a lower end Alpine which I can have my wife get the model if needed (im out of town).

The sound doesn't work through the speakers or the headphone jacks on the console. I haven't tried the IR headphones as it didn't come with any. Any pointers?

The kid will be switching from rear facing to forward facing which is why this is so relevant ;)

I am very handy so can disassemble and work on the truck but have no audio experience so you will have to dumb it down for me.

Do you have any buttons or switches that are out of place or look like they aren't OEM? I had the same no sound problem when I first bought my truck, I went to a stereo place and explained my problem to a guy! We went out to my truck and he said to use the stereo to scan through all the good FM channels it was picking up while a dvd was playing. Then he saw a button that didn't look OEM which he pushed and then rescanned the channel and I found the sound on 92.3.
Try playing a dvd and then scan all your FM channels and see if you have any sound!

Not that I recall but I will definitely check when I get back next week. Hadn't thought of it working through an FM transmitter.

That's the way mine is set up, might be hooked up to your dvd power and might turn on automatically with the player!! Cycle through all the FM channels and see if you find sound!
